Ladies and gentlemen, meet Julian Nagelsmann, the 31-year-old who rejected the chance to manage Real Madrid because he didn't want to move countries before saying 'he'll have another chance.' Now that, my friends, is a bold statement.
For many, the opportunity of managing arguably the biggest club in Europe is a dream come true, so the fact that Nagelsmann, who is regarded as one of the most talented coaches in Europe, rejected that chance will shock many.
If you are unfamiliar with his work, the Roma fotbollströja 31-year-old guided Bundesliga side Hoffenheim to a Champions League place last season, finishing third in the league.
As a result of his impressive campaigns with the German side, he was offered another job.
RB Leipzig announced in June this year that Nagelsmann will be their head coach from the 2019/20 season onwards. It was revealed that he had signed a four year deal with the club, but things could have been very different.
"Real Madrid called me," he said in an interview with 11Freunde.
"Who would hang up the telephone? Universe Football Club doesn't exist, so there's no bigger club than Real Madrid, but I am 31 years old, I will have another chance. I didn't want to move countries."
Some might say the above quote oozes confidence in his own ability, while some might say it's stupidity, but to have such an outlook on the situation is certainly refreshing.
In the past, Nagelsmann has expressed his desire to manage Bayern, describing the job as a dream:
"FC Bayern plays a PSG fotbollströja big role in my dreams. I lived in Munich for many years. I come from Landsberg am Lech, not so far from Munich," Nagelsmann said via The Mirror.
"My wife and my kid will also move to Munich shortly. We're building a house there. It's our home town. But even if I never get the chance to manage FC Bayern, I'd still die as a happy person."
Thoughts on Nagelsmann's latest comments? Will he regret turning down the chance to manage Los Blancos?
